Happily ever after....

March 1, 2014

Having just past Valentine's Day and as we approach Spring, thoughts often turn to love and relationships.  Like most girls my age, I grew up with the Wonderful World of Disney and Fairy Tales. You know how it goes, girl meets her Prince Charming, they fall in love, marry and then live happily ever after. And so one summer at the tender age of 20 I met my Prince Charming, we fell in love and two years later we married. However, instead of "happily ever after," the story took another turn. Beyond the idealised image we had of each other, were two human beings, each with many "buttons" that when pushed revealed our blockages. As my heart closed to stop the pain, I was also cut off from giving and receiving love, and so began the unraveling of a relationship that had barely begun to grow roots. Several would-be Prince Charmings later, I finally gave up on the illusion of the childhood notion of "happily ever after."

So what is the solution?  Master Sha teaches that love melts all blockages and transforms all life. Like the sun which is shining continuously, love flows freely from the heart of the Divine but can only be received into an open heart.  For a relationship to flourish, the heart of each partner must be open to the Divine and to each other so that Divine Love can melt all blockages and transform the relationship.

How can a couple keep their heart open to one another?  Forgiveness is the key.  By forgiving, I let down my guard enough for the love of the Divine to wash through my heart and heal the wounds.

How about you?  Have you closed your heart to stop feeling the pain?  Are you ready for Divine Love to heal your heart and transform your relationships?

My dear sweet child as you transition into adulthood

My dear sweet child as you transition into adulthood

My dear sweet child, the one who I have loved since before you were born, you have grown and moved out into the world.  I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to bring you into the world and to nurture you. All the way along there have been opportunities to experience separation, beginning with birth and the cutting of the umbilical cord, the transition from carrying you around and nursing, to your first steps and introduction to the delights of the bounty of nature, from intimate conversation in baby language, to your first words, from days and nights playing with you and holding you as you slept peacefully, to your first hours away from home in pre-school.  Over the years, cheering as you stretched your wings and crying when you suffered, the place you live in my heart has grown to encompass the whole earth, so we are connected wherever we are! Thank you for giving me a reason to keep my heart open!

And so as you transition into adulthood, I too transition to the state of 'empty nest' and as always, the answer is love; not imperfect human love, but the Divine love that melts all blockages and transforms all life.  Divine love that is available to each of us who seeks connection with the Divine.  May we each seek that connection in every moment that we may flourish and so shine Divine love out to all souls.

I love you.

New Years and family

December 31, 2013

And so we prepare to mark the passing of one year and move into the next, an artificial marking of time that has as much meaning as we ascribe to it.  Each moment is a new opportunity to be born afresh; what will I express in this moment?  How will I relate to myself and each of my family members in this moment?  What I feel at this moment is immense gratitude for each and every member of my family, for both the blessings and the challenges; each has been a gift.  And so I radiate this gratitude and love to each of my family members right now, knowing that no matter where in the world each is now, the message will be received.  May each of you reading this today take a moment to express gratitude and love to each of your family members.  Happy new moment!  Happy New Year!

Christmas and family

December 24, 2013

And so it is Christmas, that time of year when gatherings of friends and family provide opportunities to offer love, forgiveness, compassion and light.  My heart is happy; my daughter has flown across the country for her 2 week vacation from college.  Christmas Day she will travel with her father to visit his relatives; her grandparents, Aunts, Uncles and Cousins who live about 400 km away.  Once more I recall the pain of the separation of our small family 16 years ago. Those first few Christmases after the separation were difficult for us all.  We alternated; one year with his family; one year with mine.

The first Christmas without her I spent at home alone; then my soul spoke to me of all of the people who are suffering and brought to mind the lines from the Prayer of St. Francis:

O Divine Master, Grant that I may not so much seek
To be consoled as to console;
To be understood as to understand;
To be loved as to love.

Here is one of my favourite sung versions by James Twyman
Two years later, I spent Christmas Day as a volunteer handing out winter clothes and serving a meal to homeless people.  And so began my journey toward unconditional service.  I am so grateful to the Divine, my Heaven's team, my earthly family and other teachers, and to Master Sha and his Worldwide Representatives and the students I have been studying with since 2007 that have supported my soul healing miracle journey for healing family relationships and more!

And what is different this year?  Christmas Eve the three of us will spend together with a shared meal and gift exchange then I will see them off Christmas Day with the peace that comes from forgiveness of the mistakes we have each made that led to the separation of our small family 16 years ago.

How about you?  Are you ready to experience the peace and joy that comes from forgiveness? Are you ready to let love melt all blockages and transform all of your life?

A picked flower, cut off from its source of nourishment

Sunday December 15, 2013

Have you ever been at a large gathering where most of the people know one another, but there are a few who are apparent outsiders and are feeling quite awkward?  I was at such a gathering this past weekend and I experienced myself watching an outsider, but making no attempt to help that person feel at home.  How could I be so cold?

Prompted by our teacher Master Hudoba, I brought the incident into meditation the next day and the answer came, as  I witnessed my 2 year old self as she was separated from her 5 year old sister and brought to live with her new family.  She was grief-stricken.  Never mind the less than ideal family life she started in; it was all she knew.  That day she closed her heart to stop the pain.

The trouble is, love cannot be received when the heart is closed; a closed heart leads to a different kind of pain.  Life with a closed heart is like a picked flower, cut off from its source of nourishment, which soon withers and dies.  From the time we come into this life there are so many painful experiences!  Can you remember a time when your heart closed?

So what is the solution?  I can start by considering the person in front of me, longing for a warm heart to connect to, so brave, willing to try one more time.  What comes to mind are lines from the Prayer of St. Francis:

O Divine Master, Grant that I may not so much seek

To be consoled as to console;
To be understood as to understand;
To be loved as to love.

How does this work?  Well, in order to give love, I must first open my heart and as I open to offer love, love can flow in!

Try it tomorrow; reach out and offer kindness to someone who is suffering then I invite you to share what you experienced.

May the blessings you offer be felt far and wide and may they return to you multiplied manyfold!

Love,
Cynthia
