Mother's Day May 11, 2014

On the eve of Mother's Day I headed out for a jog.  As I was passing by the house of a neighbour, I was invited by a young girl and her friend to watch their "silly show."  Such joy in simple pleasures; a friend to play with, a warm dry evening, soft grass and an audience.  I think back on the joy of my daughter when her best friend came for a sleepover.  That same friend came for a sleepover this past Christmas on my daughter's visit from college.  I think back on handmade Mother's Day cards, hugs and more lately, heartwarming text messages.  How can I ever express my gratitude for the opportunity to learn the joy of unconditional giving?

I think about the one who gave birth to me and did her best to take care of me until a new family was found to take care of me at age two. I think about the one who raised me; of the homemade Mother's Day cards and gifts.  How can I ever thank the one who was always there for me?
